October 2011 - Over 450 people participated in this year's 5k Walk/Run for Pediatric Cancer, a new record for attendance. With runners ranging from 4 to 77 years old, each year more and more supporters attend a joyous day of competition, food, fun and friends for a great cause. This year was also a record turnout for corporate sponsors, with Hess, IDT, N.J. Center for Pain Management and Brunetti offering donations for the event. Each year the proceeds of the 5k go towards family support, research funding and the foundation's educational support channels.
THE SEAN HANNA FOUNDATION RECEIVES SECOND CITATION OF MERIT FROM THE MEMORIAL SLOAN-KETTERING CANCER CENTER
July 2011 - This summer, the Sean Hanna Foundation received its second Citation of Merit from the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, which provides support programs of patient care, research and education.
The SHF is proud to announce its association with The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), which is the world’s largest and oldest private cancer center. Since 1884, the MSKCC has devoted time and innovative research to make significant contributions to the oncology community.
The MSKCC’s continued support will help the Sean Hanna Foundation provide additional resources in the fight against cancer.
SEAN HANNA FOUNDATION HONORS STUDENT WITH FIFTH ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
June 2011 - For the past five years, the Sean Hanna Foundation (SHF) has awarded one lucky student with the Sean Hanna Foundation Scholarship, which recognizes academic excellence in the wake of personal disease or illness.
The SHF is proud to announce this year’s scholarship recipient: Zachary L. of Piscataway, New Jersey.
After suffering from a debilitating accident and the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, Zachary L. is recognized for his academic success, participation in sports and his involvement in extracurricular activities. Despite his own illness and academic responsibilities, Zachary is also being awarded for the care he has given to his three siblings and mother, who has suffered from pancreatic and ovarian cancer.
The scholarship will support Zachary’s continued academic excellence in college, where he will study special education. The SHF is proud to support Zachary as he continues to volunteer for local hospitals, where he joins their efforts to educate autistic children.

THE SEAN HANNA FOUNDATION AND AMERICAN FINANCIAL RESOURCES HOST CASINO NIGHT
January 2011 - The Sean Hanna Foundation hosted its first 1920's Casino Night Event at The Headquarters Plaza Hyatt in Morristown. The event was sponsored by American Financial Resources, one of the top nationwide mortgage lenders. Hundreds attendees tried their luck at roulette, craps, blackjack, and more. A jazz band livened up the night, setting the mood for the roaring 20's. Several people played the part, dressed in gangster outfits and flapper attire. Besides the chance to win big at the tables, the guests had the opportunity to win several various raffle prizes, including signed jerseys, a Borgata dinner and room, and a trip to Vegas. Guests enjoyed the delicious and plentiful food, ranging from carving stations to sushi. Everyone also got a special treat with a customized cake from Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken, from the popular A&E show Cake Boss!
The Sean Hanna Foundation would like to extend a huge thanks to AFR for making this night a huge success. Without their help, this achievement would not have been possible. Luke Hartman, a director on the Sean Hanna Foundation board, highly praises AFR for their contribution. "American Financial Resources really stepped up and organized an amazing event for us that everyone in attendance absolutely loved. The Sean Hanna Foundation is a non profit organization whose goal is to ease the burdens of patients suffering from childhood cancers and their families in honor of the life of its namesake, Sean Hanna. SHF also helps fund research at cancer centers, such as Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York.

October 2010 - In it's third year, the Sean Hanna Foundation's Annual 5k was bigger and better than ever. Over 400 runners registered for the highly successful event that featured lots of attractions, give aways, good food, and fun. All of the proceeds will go towards SHF's goal of supporting pediatric cancer research and families battling cancer. Touched by the support of the community, race director Lauren Alexander said "I am proud to have organized this year's event. People really came out and showed their support. I'd like to thank all of the dedicated runners and families that made this year's event possible."

THE SEAN HANNA FOUNDATION HOSTS SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT FOR PEDIATRIC CANCER
August 2010 - The Sean Hanna Foundation hosted a successful softball tournament at Warren Park in Woodbridge, NJ. The aim of the event was to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer. The event was well attended with 12 full teams participating in the all day tournament. There was
also entertainment, food, and drinks for all those attending. The day was a great success for the foundation. Kristen Olah, the event organizer echoed this sentiment, "Being a part of something that will help a family that's struggling due to childhood cancer is such an amazing feeling. To know that all the money raised throughout the tournament will help a child live their life as close to normal as possible, makes it all worth it for me." Everyone is already looking forward to next year's tournament; said Olah, "I already can't wait for next year's tournament!" The Sean Hanna Foundation is continually promoting its goal of fighting pediatric cancer and the many lives it affects; this year's softball tournament was a great means to achieve that goal.

June 2010 - The Sean Hanna Foundation awarded it's 4th annual Academic Award to a student of Piscataway High School who has displayed academic excellence in the face of illness. The student will go on to continue her studies at Rutgers University in pursuit of a medical degree. The Foundation's "Education Fund" allows patients and their families to receive relief from escalating costs of continuing education, 2010 will be the foundation's full year of an established endowment which will fund future scholarships.

2009 - The Sean Hanna Foundation, a non-profit foundation
raising awareness and funds for cancer research and support
hosted its second annual 5K community run at Duke Island Park
in Bridgewater, NJ. Over 400 runners registered for the USATF
sanctioned event. In addition to the 5K run, a dj, food, games,
contest, performers, and giveaways were included.
Executive
Director of the foundation, Jessie Hanna called the event a
great success, "this our second time running this race
and it's been nothing short of a success. The event has grown
in participants and money raised for our foundation. This event
happens because of all the great people that volunteer their
time, energy and resources. " Multiple corporate sponsors
provided assistance as well, such as Celgene, Macy's, Toys R'Us,
Shop Rite of Bound Brook, and Target of Bridgewater.
The
foundation is gaining significant traction in its second year
since inception. Events like the 5K run help the foundation
with its ultimate goal, assisting cancer patients and fighting
to find the ultimate cure for cancer. Pam Lee, events coordinator
had similar sentiments, "the 5K signifies how far our foundation
has come and the support we are receiving from local communities.
It's all for a great cause and we appreciate everyone's support."

2009 - Over 200 supporters were in attendance for The Sean
Hanna Foundations first annual An Afternoon of Music
held at the beautiful Christ United Methodist Church in Piscataway.
The crowds were dazzled by the wonderful music of the Freelance
Ensemble Artists of New Jersey directed by Anthony Maglione
and Nathanial White. Pamela Lee, the Foundations Director
of Events said This was a creative way to attract a new
audience and to honor Seans love of music. We thank the
Freelance Ensemble Artists and look forward to working with
them again. Proceeds will provide funds for pediatric cancer
research, patient family support and academic scholarships."

academic award to two graduating high school seniors who have

at the Whiskey Bar in Hoboken, NJ. Hundreds attended the event
to help raise funds for educational scholarships and cancer
research. Everyone enjoyed good drinks, prizes, and live music.
The foundation is looking forward to having more of these events
in the Northern New Jersey/Manhattan area to further assist
in the fight against pediatric cancer. Board member Tim Schuermer
said "This was a fun way to reach out to a entirely new
group of people. Everyone has been touched by cancer, and everyone
wants to help in the fight against it."
THE SEAN HANNA FOUNDATION DONATES BOOKS TO MSKCC CHILDREN'S LIBRARY
March 2009 - The Sean Hanna Foundation with the tremendous support of Barnes and Noble of Bridgewater, NJ and their very charitable patrons proudly donated an estimated $30,000 worth of brand new children's books to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. The books will be used by pediatric patients and their families.
"The Sean Hanna Foundation is truly humbled by the support of all of the Barnes and Noble's customers and the representatives from the Bridgewater chain," said Luke Hartmann, Director of Corporate Partnership for the foundation. "We value our relationships with all of our corporate sponsors and Barnes and Noble really stepped up and provided us with a unique product that will directly affect the quality of life of so many pediatric cancer patients. SEAN HANNA FOUNDATION HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL COMEDY NIGHT Hundreds come out to laugh for charity
December
2008 - The frigid temperatures were not enough to keep the
many charitable supporters of the Sean Hanna Foundation away
from The Stress Factory in New Brunswick, New Jersey for the
foundation's second annual Comedy Night for charity on December
7th. Hundreds of comedy fans filled the club for the show which
marked the last event of the year for the foundation. Founder
and Executive Director Jessie Hanna thanked the crowd and said
it marked exactly one year of operations for the charity, whose
goal is to help families with children diagnosed with Pediatric
Cancer and to fund various organizations that perform Cancer
research.
"We've done a lot, but there is much, much more to be done"
said Jessie. The Foundation will donate this year's proceeds
in Sean Hanna's name to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, a
leader in Oncology studies.

2008 - Even in the ironic wake of Hurricane Hanna, The Sean
Hanna Foundation's First Annual 5k race for charity saw over
300 registered runners and nearly 100 volunteers and supporters.
The USATF sanctioned event included a competitive run along
with a dj, moonwalk, food, contests, and giveaways.
Director
of Corporate Partnerships Luke Hartmann was extremely proud
of the event's success, "not only did we receive support
from so many runners and volunteers, but a lot of businesses
really stepped up and donated money, products or services. Without
the support of our runners, volunteers and corporate partners
this event would never have happened." Among the businesses
offering their support were the Platinum Sponsor Prudential
who matched the event's proceeds. Also showing their support
were A&P, Wegmans, Red Bull, Central Jersey Pro Shot, McCormick
and Schmidt, Macy's, Toys R' Us, Shop Rite of Bound Brook, Target
of Bridgewater, Grace Alliance Church, Revlon and the River
Road Rescue Squad.
"We
were really overwhelmed with support especially because we planned
this event and unfortunately there were reports that we were
in the path of a hurricane. Although it tested everyone's resolve
it really showed how important this foundation and it's cause
is to all of our supporters. We really look forward to many
more fun events that allow us to continue providing our services,"

2008 - The Sean Hanna Foundation has provided it's second
academic scholarship to Louise Previte of Piscataway High School.
Louise plans on attending Middlesex County College to study
Pediatric Nursing, something that is very near and dear to her
heart. In her application essay, Louise explained "A journey
is something no one will ever forget all my life I've experienced
journey after journey. My journeys include surviving cancer "

type of person that our foundation supports. She has battled

2008- The Sean Hanna Foundation hosted a very successful
night of friends, fun and laughs at The Stress Factory in New
Brunswick, NJ. Over 300 friends, family and foundation supporters
were in attendance for a packed house. There was plenty of good
food and drinks on hand and enormous laughs from the two featured
comedians. Jessie Hanna, the foundation's Executive Director
said "For our first event the comedy night was an amazing
success." Jessie and the Foundation were very hopeful for
many more successful events, "we have a series of fun events
planned that we hope will further our cause and raise more money
for the children and their families that suffer every day with
pediatric cancer".

FOUNDATION PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIP Deserving student awarded first scholarship
June
2007- David Tremont, a chronically ill student at Piscataway
High School has received a scholarship to continue his higher
education. Despite the many obstacles that he has faced, David
excelled in his studies and is active in extracurriculars, the
Foundation is privileged to help him along his path. The Sean
Hanna Foundation provides scholarships and grants for students
who have battled with cancer and other illnesses with the hopes
that financial assistance will allow them to continue their education
and ease the burden of medical expenses.
